Demo banks
Try Synci with generated data: what demo banks are, how to add one, what data it produces, and how to remove it.

Demo banks let you try Synci without connecting a real bank. A demo connection works like any other bank connection: it syncs, appears on your Banks page, and can be used with rules, linked accounts and webhooks. The only difference is that its accounts, balances and transactions are generated by Synci. Demo connections and their accounts carry a Demo badge, so you can always tell them apart from your real money.
Free, and outside your plan limits
Demo banks are free and don't count toward the number of connections your plan allows. You can have up to 4 demo connections at a time. Every demo connection you have counts toward that limit, including disabled ones and failed attempts, so delete one when you need room for another.
The four demo banks
All four are called Synci Demo Bank. The line underneath each one tells you how it behaves:
Connects normally: Connects and syncs like a healthy bank. Use this one if you just want to try Synci.
Refuses credentials: The sign-in step always rejects, so you land back in Synci with a failed connection.
Bank unavailable: Behaves like a bank outage during the sign-in step.
Consent expires in 2 days: Connects normally, then asks to be renewed almost straight away, so you can try renewing a consent without waiting months.
The last three are mainly useful for testing how problems look in Synci, or in your own app if you build on Synci.
Adding a demo bank
Go to Banks under Sources in the sidebar and click New connection.
Open the country menu and choose Demo banks.
Pick the Synci Demo Bank marked Connects normally and click Connect.
On the demo bank's sign-in page, type anything in Customer number and Passcode, then click Authorize Synci. Nothing you type there is stored, so never enter real bank details.
You're taken back to Synci, where the setup steps run just like they do for a real bank.
What a demo connection contains
A successful demo connection adds four accounts, each with its own pattern of activity:
Everyday Account: Day-to-day card spending and subscriptions, plus monthly rent and salary.
Savings Account: A quiet account with a monthly standing order coming in and monthly interest.
Credit Card: Card purchases and a monthly repayment. Like a real credit card, its booked balance is negative (the amount owed) while its available balance shows the credit you have left.
Business Account: Fewer, larger transactions, such as client invoices and business subscriptions.
All amounts are in euros, and transactions arrive already booked, so you won't see pending transactions on a demo bank. You get up to 90 days of history, and new transactions keep appearing day by day for as long as the connection stays active. Balances are worked out from the generated transactions, so they always add up.
If you link a demo account to a destination, its generated transactions are sent there just like real ones. Use a test budget or spreadsheet rather than the one you rely on.
Removing a demo bank
On the Banks page, open the demo connection.
Click More, then Delete, and confirm.
Deleting a demo connection removes its accounts, transactions and balances too. If you only want to stop it syncing, choose Disable under More instead, but remember that a disabled demo connection still counts toward your limit of 4.
Synci also cleans up after you: a demo connection that hasn't synced or changed for 60 days, for example one you disabled and forgot about, is deleted automatically along with its data.
