Account security

We have a strong focus on providing our users with both privacy and security. We do not collect any information that isn't necessary for delivering the service, and your data is never shared with undisclosed third parties. We do use some third party tools like Nightwatch and Posthog to log errors and provide our customers with support, but any sensitive information these logs may contain is scrubbed before they leave our servers. You can find a list of all the third parties we use in our privacy policy: https://synci.io/privacy

Your bank account data is never shared with any party outside of Synci, except for those explicitly stated:

  • Connected destinations, like YNAB or Lunch Money.

  • Any webhook endpoint you have created and enabled.

  • Microsoft Foundry, if you have enabled AI-powered features like payee name enrichment. When enabled, stripped down transaction data is sent to and processed by Azure OpenAI. Your data will not be available to OpenAI or used to improve any Microsoft or 3rd party products or services. We recommend reading the Synci Privacy Policy and the Azure Direct Models Privacy Policy before enabling AI-powered features.

To make sure your account and data is secure, we recommend using a strong password that has not been used elsewhere. Password managers like Apple Passwords, 1Password, or Bitwarden are essential these days, and we heavily recommend using one.

We also recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) and passkeys. This ensures that even if someone is able to steal your password, they will not be able to access your account without your authenticator. To enable 2FA, go to Settings > 2FA. To add passkeys, go to Settings > Passkeys.

Sharing your account

You are free to share your account with friends and family, but remember you are ultimately responsible for your accounts security and data. Do not share your Synci account with anyone you’re not comfortable sharing your bank account data with. We strongly recommend you enable 2FA whether you’re sharing your account or not.

If you do not have an Enterprise agreement with Synci, you can not share your account for commercial purposes, or in any way accept payment in return for sharing your account.
