To see a list of all your existing Lunch Money connections, or to create a new one, head to Lunch Money in the Synci dashboard. You’ll find it on the All integrations page in the sidebar, and once you've connected a budget, Lunch Money is pinned under Integrations.
Connecting to Lunch Money
If you don’t have a Lunch Money account yet, use our affiliate link when signing up to get an extra free month in addition to the standard 1 month trial.
Click the New connection button to start. The Connect to Lunch Money dialog will ask for a budget access token.
Requesting an access token
You can generate a budget access token by going to your budget’s developer settings. The dialog in Synci links there too.

You don’t have to fill out any of these fields, but we recommend setting them to this:
Label for access token
SynciWhat will you use this API key for?
I need it for a third-party app that requires this API.
Click Request New Access Token, and copy the access token. If you lose the access token, you will not be able to retrieve it later, and must generate a new access token.
Confirm connection
Once you have an access token, paste it into the Access token field in Synci, and click Connect. Synci will immediately fetch your budget and its manual accounts, and let you know when the connection is created.
Which accounts you can link
Synci only imports your Lunch Money manual accounts, so those are the ones you can link. Closed accounts are skipped, and accounts that Lunch Money syncs from a bank connection of its own don’t appear in Synci. If you need a new account to send data to, create it as a manual account in Lunch Money. Synci refreshes your Lunch Money accounts once a week.
Linking an account
Nothing is sent to Lunch Money until you link one of your Synci accounts to a Lunch Money account. Open the Lunch Money account in Synci and go to its Linked Accounts tab, or start from your bank, brokerage or crypto account: Linking accounts to destinations
Each link sends Transactions only, Transactions & balance or Balance only. Bank accounts default to Transactions only; brokerage and crypto accounts default to Transactions & balance.
How transactions arrive in Lunch Money
The payee comes from the transaction’s mapped payee in Synci, and the notes from its mapped description (trimmed to 140 and 350 characters).
New transactions arrive with the status unreviewed, and Lunch Money’s own rules are applied to them.
Each transaction carries its Synci transaction ID as its external ID, so Lunch Money skips duplicates. A skipped duplicate shows as failed in the link’s transfer logs.
When a pending transaction is booked, Synci updates it in Lunch Money (status, payee, notes and amount) according to the link’s When transactions become booked settings.
Synci doesn’t set a category. To set one from Synci, attach an Only on the way out rule to the linked account and pick from your Lunch Money categories.
For links set to Transactions & balance or Balance only, Synci also updates the manual account’s balance in Lunch Money once a day.
