Find the bank account or destination you want to link

You can link bank accounts to destinations by either going to the Banks page, or any of the destination pages (e.g. YNAB).

Next to each bank account or destination, you will see a Link button. Clicking this button opens the Create Transfer Link dialog.

Create transfer link

You will be taken through a step-by-step wizard for creating the transfer link.

Select destination or bank account

As we explained above, you can initiate the linking process from either a bank account or destination.

Select destination

If you initiated the process by clicking Link on a bank account, you will be asked to select the destination type.

In the next step, you can select the destination you would like to link.

Select bank account

If you initiated the process by clicking Link on a destination, you will be asked to select the bank account you want to link.

Transfer link settings

Choose a transfer start date, or continue with the default option (todays date).
Only transactions that have occurred since this date will be transferred.

Confirm transfer link

The final step shows you what the transfer link will look like. If everything looks good, you can go ahead and click Confirm to create the transfer link. If you’d like to change your bank account settings before creating the link, please refer to the “edit bank account settings” section below.

Once you’ve created the transfer link, the “Automatic sync” setting is automatically enabled for the bank account, and Synci will immediately start transferring transactions from your bank account to your destination. New transactions will also be automatically transferred to your destination for as long as the transfer link is active.

Tip: If you haven’t set the sync start date for the chosen bank account before, it will be automatically set to the same date as the transfer start date you chose for the transfer link. If your bank account already has a “sync start date” set, it will not be changed.

It’s important to understand that these are two different settings.

  • The “sync start date” is a bank account setting, and decides which transactions are fetched to Synci. Only transactions that have occurred since this date will be fetched from the bank.

  • The “transfer start date” is a transfer link setting, and decides which transactions are transferred to the linked destination. Only transactions that have occurred since this date will be transferred.

Example 1: If your bank account “sync start date” is set to March 20, and your transfer link “transfer start date” is set to March 28, only transactions with a date of March 28 or later will be transferred through this transfer link.

Example 2: If your bank account “sync start date” is set to March 28, and your transfer link “transfer start date” is set to March 20, Synci will only fetch transactions from March 28 and later. Even if your “transfer start date” is set to March 20, there will be no transactions available to transfer until March 28.

Edit bank account settings (optional)

Click the Bank Settings button to edit your bank account settings before creating the transfer link.

Once you’re happy with your bank account settings, click Confirm to save the changes and create the transfer link.
